Boyce Batlang - Botswana's next Pavarotti?

    August 26, 2012

When we arrived in Botswana on our pilot project a few months ago, we met some amazing singers. One of them was Boyce Batlang, a tenor who blew us away. That night, we also met some swedish people in the audience in our concert at the Number 1 Ladies' Opera House in Gabarone and an idea began to form. Last night Boycie sang the First Armed Man in Mozart's Magic Flute at the Drottningholm Palace Theatre in Stockholm, Sweden, sharing a stage with celebrated international opera singers, such as, Christiana Karg, Albina Shagimuritova, Peter Rose and Andy Staples in a performance with the Swedish Radio Symphony conducted by Daniel Harding. OfC is so proud to have been able to make this happen and we are extremely grateful to Daniel, the Swedish Radio and the Baltic Sea Festival and of course to the main man Boycie himself. Good luck tonight - have a great show!
